We spent a month relaxing in Crescent City

After leaving Klamath we arrived in Crescent City, CA. We stayed at an RV Park right on the bay. We could continuously hear the foghorn (every 5 seconds!) but it wasn’t loud enough to be annoying. From the RV Park we only had to walk over a small levee and we were on a beach that allowed off-heash dogs. Chloe LOVED it!

We didn’t really go see any sights while here. We just relaxed and enjoyed the cool and often foggy weather while hearing about the horrible heat smothering much of the country.

Here are a couple of pictures, showing the beach on the bay looking both south and north. The bay is real shallow so at low tide there’s a lot more beach than at high tide. In the “looking south” picture you can see Chloe, who was running in the huge area uncovered by the low tide that day.

Our short stay in Klamath

We had planned to travel from Eureka CA to Crescent City CA to stay on another beach. But, the RV Park in Crescent City was booked for the first 5 days we wanted to stay there.

So, we stayed halfway between the two towns in Klamath for a few days. We chose an RV Park that we didn’t stay at the previous 2 times we stayed in Klamath hoping for better internet and DISH service (the two previous RV Parks were in a hilly and heavily wooded area and therefore bad to no internet and no DISH).

There was an area near our site that was a mowed clearing perhaps intended for groups or large picnics. We found it perfect for letting Chloe run offlease since it was a little ways from the other sites and down a slight embankment. One morning Chloe stopped and stared at some bushes along the edge of the clearing and she started barking and growling. We were unsure what was going on so we called her and left.

The next day I was looking out the window towards the clearing and saw an adult black bear! Yipes! We knew there could be bears in the area but to see one so close to where we let Chloe run was a little unnerving. The last day I didn’t take Chloe there to run. Here’s a picture of the area – the blue line is the clearing where Chloe would run and the red arrow points to where I saw the bear.
