Wooded hills,
neat homes with flowers,
corn, horses, cattle,
New York, New York!

Green hills and blooming flowers, puffy clouds in a blue sky. Maine in June.
Cold weather, grey sky and wet drizzle; it’s a good day to stay inside.
The weather lately has been real variable – one day it’ll be gorgeous blue skies and in the high 70s, the next day it’ll rain and be rather cold. These two (above) haiku verses came to me during one dramatic weather change.
I stand next to a huge ancient Redwood and feel small, young, and humbled.
Still the body,
Clear the mind
and be at peace with all the universe.
We drove through some beautiful coastal forests yesterday and I put on my headsets to listen to some “new age” music that I love. Even though I was looking around at the forest and keeping half an eye on the road I felt I was drifting into a meditative state and this one just popped into my mind.
Travelling is fun,
but thoughts often turn to family –
We miss you!
Foggy.
Can’t see treetops.
Want to see the ocean –
maybe tomorrow.
I read some haiku verses not long ago and started thinking about composing them. I decided to post them, and want to invite all of you to post any as well via a comment. I’ll publish it as long as it doesn’t contain too much profanity 🙂
Stuck in traffic;
is it a workday?
I’m retired
and don’t care –
I smile.
Dark, dense forest,
moss and fern.
It clears –
Snow capped mountain
towers above.
