{"id":3211,"date":"2014-05-02T11:00:23","date_gmt":"2014-05-02T11:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.retired-openroad.us\/?p=3211"},"modified":"2014-05-02T11:00:23","modified_gmt":"2014-05-02T11:00:23","slug":"the-u-s-holocaust-memorial-museum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.retired-openroad.us\/?p=3211","title":{"rendered":"The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We visited the Holocaust Memorial Museum while in D.C. \u00a0Jeff visited a similar museum in Israel when he was there back in the 60s.<\/p>\n<p>They didn&#8217;t allow photography so we don&#8217;t have any pictures to attach, and their website \u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ushmm.org\/\">http:\/\/www.ushmm.org\/<\/a>)doesn&#8217;t have a lot of pictures either. \u00a0It was a very sobering experience to visit this museum.<\/p>\n<p>There are lots of videos and photos of events that happened during the holocaust. \u00a0People being herded into the cattle cars, pictures of survivors. \u00a0There&#8217;s one gallery that is two-stories high completely filled with photos of people and families that all perished in the holocaust.<\/p>\n<p>They have lots of taped interviews with survivors and also collaborators as they tell their stories.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We visited the Holocaust Memorial Museum while in D.C. \u00a0Jeff visited a similar museum in Israel when he was there back in the 60s.
