{"id":274,"date":"2012-09-02T21:09:43","date_gmt":"2012-09-02T21:09:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.retired-openroad.us\/?p=274"},"modified":"2012-09-11T14:47:05","modified_gmt":"2012-09-11T14:47:05","slug":"laddy-goes-athletic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.retired-openroad.us\/?p=274","title":{"rendered":"Laddy goes athletic!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Because Laddy doesn&#8217;t have the ability to run around in a yard as he did (for a short time) in the house on Glenroy, we&#8217;ve been trying to find dog parks whereever we are.<\/p>\n<p>There was one in Visalia that we took him to a few times.\u00a0 He really enjoyed running with the other dogs, and there was one border collie that would &#8220;herd&#8221; Laddy.\u00a0 It was fun to watch; Laddy wouldn&#8217;t know which way to turn as Peaches would be right there herding him backwards.<\/p>\n<p>Now we&#8217;re in Morgan Hill, so one of the first things we did was find a local dog park. Morgan Hill has a real nice one as part of the community center (<a href=\"http:\/\/morganhilldog.org\/\">http:\/\/morganhilldog.org\/<\/a>).\u00a0\u00a0It&#8217;s attached to a larger park; it has a pond with lots of ducks and gees, basketball courts and shade, picnic tables etc.\u00a0 The dog park itself has a big dog and small dog section, and it&#8217;a BIG with lots of shade, benches scattered around and lots of buckets for water.<\/p>\n<p>Laddy sure enjoys running around and meeting the other dogs.\u00a0 He&#8217;s so friendly with everyone, dogs and people.\u00a0 He&#8217;s starting to figure out that the purpose of us throwing the ball is for him to go fetch it and bring it back.\u00a0 At first he would just run with the dogs chasing the ball, then he started to see the other dogs get the ball and run with it so he would do that too.\u00a0 Today, for the first time, he brought the ball back to Jeff and me.\u00a0 It took a couple of times of wrestling the ball from him mouth stating &#8220;Drop it&#8221; before he would do that but when he saw that we would throw it again he got better at it.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a couple of pictures of Laddy enjoying himself at the dog park.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-274 gallery-columns-3 gallery-size-thumbnail'><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/www.retired-openroad.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Laddy-at-the-dog-park-2.jpg'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/www.retired-openroad.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Laddy-at-the-dog-park-2-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/www.retired-openroad.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Laddy-at-the-dog-park-1.jpg'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/www.retired-openroad.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Laddy-at-the-dog-park-1-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Because Laddy doesn&#8217;t have the ability to run around in a yard as he did (for a short time) in the house on Glenroy, we&#8217;ve been trying to find dog parks whereever we are.
