Lunch at the Roosevelt Lodge in Yellowstone

We plan to pack a lunch sometimes when we visit Yellowstone, but we decided yesterday to eat a the dining room of the Roosevelt Lodge.  It was Great!

Jeff had a bison burger and declared it wonderful.  Less fatty than most beef and with a nice taste.  I had smoked trout on baguette slices (really an appetizer) and it was also really good.

If you visit Yellowstone, we both recommend you eat there for either a lunch or a dinner.  Here’s their website: http://www.yellowstonenationalparklodges.com/roosevelt-lodge-dining-room-7198.html

Birthday Dinner for Jeff at a nearby restaurant

It was Jeff’s birthday yesterday and I took him to dinner.  We checked online to find nearby restaurants, and other than one just across from the freeway from our RV park we would have to drive 30 minutes to get to a restaurant.

We’d walked by this restaurant called the Monte Vista Inn a couple of times in the morning and weren’t sure if it was closed up or what.  It looked deserted although the flower bed was sort of tended to.

But, we  found a website for it online and it looked like good food so we thought we’d take a chance.  WOW!  This was a really great restaurant!  The food was outstanding and the service was great!

I put a review on Yelp, here’s a link to it.

Alfonso’s Hideaway in Coarsegold, CA

When we arrived in Coarsegold we decided to see what the little town had to offer for restaurants.  We stopped at a Mexican place called Alfonso’s Hideaway.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was “small town”, with a counter near the door containing lots of fudge!

They had great food, and Jeff ordered flan which came in a glass usually used for ice cream sundaes instead of in a bowl. He said it was really good!

The floor wasn’t very clean, but the tables and other surfaces were fine.

This place doesn’t have a website, but here are the reviews that were put on Yelp: http://www.yelp.com/biz/alfonsos-hideaway-mexican-restaurant-coarsegold

New to our Blog – Reviews!

After being on the road for several months, Jeff and I have realized we can’t recall names of restaurants we enjoyed, some details about RV Parks that we might want to remember if we come to an area again, etc.

And, we’ve realized that while online review websites such as Yelp.com and BringFido.com have some good information, we find some dog parks and good places to visit through other avenues such as neighbors at an RV Park or just driving by and saying “Oh, look…!”

So, we thought we’d better start documenting the good and the bad about places we’ve been.  We’ll focus on RV Parks, dog parks and restaurants as we need those everywhere, but we’ll also include local attractions such as museums, state and county parks, etc that we visit and either like or want to avoid next time.

Paisano’s Pizza and Pasta in Grover Beach, CA *****

4/3/2013: We were in the mood for pizza while visiting the Pismo Beach area and chose Paisano’s as we drove down E. Grand in the Grover Beach area.  WONDERFUL tasting pizza!  The toppings were crowded on the pizza (not skimpy like some places)  and the sauce and cheese were excellent in flavor.
The pizza was cooked a bit longer than at some places, but it wasn’t dry at all!  It was very flavorful and much more authentic than you’ll get at a chain.
Definitely a place to go to get good pizza!
